Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of emotion-oriented couple therapy on marital commitment and marital exhaustion of couples with marital conflict. The research design of this study is quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test and control sample. For this purpose, a number of (30) couples with marital conflict were identified and selected by available sampling method. Of these, 15 people were randomly assigned to the experimental group and 15 to the control group. In order to collect data, Adamer and Jones Marital Commitment Questionnaire and Pines Marital Exhaustion Questionnaire were used. Also, the training package of emotion-oriented couple therapy was applied to the experimental group during 8 two-hour therapy sessions. The results of covariance analysis showed that there is a significant difference between the couples of the experimental group and the experimental group. Based on the findings of this research, it can be concluded that emotion-oriented couple therapy interventions have increased marital commitment and reduced marital exhaustion of couples. In fact, the correct communication based on love and interest between couples has increased marital commitment and couples showed different reactions to marital conflicts.

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of psychological capital training on academic enthusiasm of female second-year high school students. This study was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and two-month follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of the study included all female second-year high school students in schools in District 2 of Tehran in the academic year 1403-1404, from whom 30 were selected by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group received psychological capital training during five sessions. Data were collected in three stages: pre-test, post-test, and follow-up, and analyzed using a mixed analysis of variance with repeated measures. The findings showed that psychological capital training significantly increased academic enthusiasm in the experimental group compared to the control group (P<0.05). Also, no significant difference was observed between post-test and follow-up scores, indicating the stability of the intervention effect in the follow-up period. Overall, psychological capital training was effective in increasing and sustaining academic enthusiasm among female high school students. Accordingly, using this intervention in school counseling and psychological programs can help improve students' academic enthusiasm.

Abstract

Fibromyalgia, as a chronic pain disorder, imposes a heavy psychological burden on patients; therefore, this study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program on rumination and alexithymia in women with fibromyalgia. The design of this study was semi-experimental, featuring a pre-test, post-test, and a 2-month follow-up with a control group. The statistical population consisted of all women with fibromyalgia who were members of the Fibromyalgia Association, from whom 30 patients were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to either the experimental group or the control group. The experimental group received the MBSR intervention in eight weekly sessions, while the control group received no intervention during this period. The assessment tools included the Toronto Alexithymia Scale and the Ruminative Responses Scale, and the gathered data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). The statistical results indicated that the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program led to a significant decrease in the scores of ruminations and alexithymia in the experimental group compared to the control group. Furthermore, post-hoc analysis confirmed the sustainability and durability of these psychological outcomes during the 2-month follow-up stage. In conclusion, the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program is an efficient and sustainable tool for emotional regulation and mitigating psychological distress in women with fibromyalgia by modifying cognitive infrastructures and enhancing non-judgmental emotional awareness; thus, its application as a complementary therapy is highly recommended.

Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of logotherapy on loneliness and fear of death in older adults with chronic physical illnesses. This study was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest structure, including a follow-up phase and a control group. The statistical population consisted of older adults with chronic physical illnesses referring to specialized clinics in Tehran in 2025, from whom 30 participants were selected through purposive sampling and then randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 participants in each group). The experimental group received logotherapy in eight 90-minute sessions, while the control group did not receive any intervention. The research instruments included a Loneliness Questionnaire and a Fear of Death Scale. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The results indicated that logotherapy significantly reduced loneliness and fear of death in the experimental group, and this effect remained largely stable at the follow-up stage. Accordingly, logotherapy can be considered an effective psychological intervention for reducing loneliness and fear of death and improving the mental health of older adults with chronic physical illnesses.
