اکثر اراضی کشاورزی ایران در مناطق خشک و نیمه­خشک قرار داشته و جزو خاک­های شور محسوب می­شوند. به منظور بررسی تاثیر متقابل شوری، منابع پتاسیم و کلسیم بر رشد و عملکرد گوجه­‌فرنگی آزمایشی فاکتوریل در قالب بلوک‌­های کامل تصادفی در شرایط هیدروپونیک در سه تکرار  انجام شد. فاکتورهای آزمایشی شامل شوری در سه سطح (0، 20 و 40 میلی­‌مولار کلریدسدیم)، پتاسیم از دو منبع کلرید و نیترات (0 و 15 میلی­‌مولار) و کلسیم از منابع کلرید و نیترات (0 و 10 میلی­‌مولار) بودند. با افزایش سطح شوری شاخص‌­های رشد شامل ارتفاع بوته، قطر ساقه، تعداد برگ، تعداد گل و میوه و کلروفیل برگ کاهش یافت. استفاده از نیترات کلسیم در شوری 40 میلی مولار کلرید سدیم سبب افزایش به ترتیب 55 و 95 درصدی وزن خشک اندام هوایی و ریشه گیاهان شد. همچنین کاربرد نیترات کلسیم در بیشترین غلظت نمک سبب افزایش 75 درصدی کلروفیل کل شد. آنالیز داده­‌ها نشان دادکه با افزایش شوری غلظت سدیم در ریشه و ساقه افزایش و غلظت پتاسیم در اندام ریشه کاهش یافت ولی محتوای پتاسیم اندام هوایی تحت تاثیر شوری قرار نگرفت. استفاده از نیترات­ کلسیم در شوری 40 میلی مولار کلرید سدیم سبب کاهش 23 درصدی غلظت سدیم ریشه نسبت به گیاهان تیمار شده با 40 میلی مولار کلرید سدیم گردید. بنابراین با توجه به یافته های به دست آمده می توان بیان کرد که از بین منابع پتاسیم و کلسیم به نظر می‌­رسد استفاده از نیترات کلسیم در مقایسه با موارد دیگر با افزایش کلروفیل کل، وزن خشک و تعدیل در نسبت­‌های یونی می­تواند اثرات شوری را در گیاه گوجه فرنگی کاهش دهد.
