Training exercises are known to affect depressed girls condition, but the effect of regular exercise in exhilarating environments, in particularly on markers related to epinephrine metabolism in depressed girls are not well known. The purpose of the present study was to determine effect of the 6 weeks of intermittent walking in water on urine MHPG sulphate and Hamilton scale in the depressed girls. Twenty-four of girls' students, who suffering from moderate depression, randomly divided into exercise and control groups. The subjects in the training group performed the progressive walking exercise of 60-70% of maximal heart rate, 3 times a week and for 6 weeks. The Hamilton scale and urine samples were measured in before and after the mentioned exercise protocol. The urine MHPG sulphate was measured by HPLC-flurometric detection method. The data were analyzed by t- student and the Pearson correlation coefficient tests at p≤0/05 levels. The results showed the 6 weeks of exercise resulted in significant increase in the urine MHPG sulphate and VO2max and significant decrease in Hamilton scale compared to the control group. Furthermore, there was a significantly positive correlation between the urine MHPG sulphate and VO2max (r= 0/65). However, there was a significant reversely correlation (r= - 0/52) between the urine MHPG sulphate and Hamilton scale in prediction of depression. These results emphasize the role of regular physical exercise, particularly in exhilarating environments in the promotion of depression state. Also, in some conditions can be used Hamilton scale instead of the urine MHPG sulphate detects.
In order to compare the acute effects of OR and Megabasic (two energy drinks)
by a placebo, 24 volunteer male athletes (age: 24.3±2.03 yrs, height
173.56±7.02cm and weight 75.43±3.07kg) participated in two consecutive
RAST tests by 40 min rest interval in between within 3 randomly divided groups.
There were six times blood sampling (before and also 2 and 4 min after than
both tests) in order to analyze blood lactate and PH levels (Gas analyzer) and
also the anaerobic indices (Peak, mean and mean power) was calculated. The
data corresponding to each group’s blood factors was compared by ANOVA for
repeated measurements (post hoc: Bonferoni), their changes between two
consecutive RAST tests was compared by ANOVA (post hoc: LSD) and
anaerobic power data for each group was compared using pair sample t test at
0.05 significance level. Results: Significant changes were observed in blood
lactate and PH levels during repeated measurements in both RAST tests at all
groups (p<0.05). There were also significant differences in the amount of the
changes in between the measurements between groups (p<0.05). Additionally,
Peak and min power only significantly increased in second RAST test rather
than first one and mean power also significantly decreased in both energy drink
groups between the first and second RAST tests (p<0.05). Conclusions:
Consumption of the OR can affect anaerobic power during short term repeated
interval activities. However, there are evident differences in between multiple
brands of energy drinks with regard to the amount of the modifications in the
changes at both blood lactate and PH levels, in spite of this fact that there is
any consensus in this field because of the lack of comprehensive researches.
This study is aimed to evaluate the effect of 4 weeks swimming training with
chest wall restriction on aerobic power, cardio-respiratory functions and
swimming performance of elite female swimmers. 24 elite female swimmers
volunteered to participate in this study and were randomly divide into two
groups: Control (swimming training without chest wall restriction) and
experimental group (swimming training with chest wall restriction). Both groups
were in a monthly swimming program (they trained 3 times a week for a total of
4 weeks). They swam almost 3.5 to 4 km/d with 70 – 85% of HRmax. Aerobic
power, pulmonary parameters, time to exhaustion and swimming performance
were measured. To analyze data, student t test was used. The results showed
that Time to exhaustion increased in group training with chest wall restrictor
(P=0/012). T-20 test results showed improvements in experimental group. No
significant difference was observed in VO2max, MVV, FVC, and FEV1/FVC in
two groups. Also there was no significant difference between the groups.
Therefore, the results showed that using chest elastic band in order to impose
more stress on respiratory muscles during exercise leads to some adaptations
in these muscles and it is associated with some improvements in exercise
performance.
The purpose of this study was to consider the effect of eight weeks aerobic
and strength training on serum PTH, calcium, albumin and alkaline
phosphatase in postmenopausal women.35 post menopause women, (55-70
years), of Jahandidegan center of Tehran were selected and randomly divided
to three groups as aerobic (n=12), strength (n=13) and control (n=10) groups.
Aerobic training program include jogging and aerobic movements, with 60-
70% MHR intensity(8 weeks, 3 times per week, 40minute per session), And
Strength training program with emphasize on main muscle groups (8 weeks, 3
times per week, 1 hour per session),with30-40%1RM,8-10rep,1set to 60-
80%1RM,8-10rep,1set . One way analysis of variance (ANOVA) used to
compare differences between groups. The results showed that PTH and
alkaline phosphatase significantly increase after aerobic and strength training
in comparison with control group (P≤0.05). But the significant difference was
not observed between these two groups. No significant difference was
observed in serum calcium between two trained and control groups (p≥0.05).
However a significant decrease was observed in strength group (P≤0.05).
Furthermore, the significant change was not observed in albomin after training
program. Increase in PTH and alkaline phosphatase concentrations in normal
range seem to promote anabolism procedure of bone formation. The result of
this study shows that both two type of training have same effects on bone
markers and hormonal factors.
Background and aims:
In many communities, the sport as a method of therapy is used to improve the
disabled and veterans' health which has been a useful and effective. The aim of
this study was to examine the effect of aerobic exercise on general health and
serotonin levels in inactive veterans. Material and method: Based on semi
experimental design 40 veterans, 25 percent impaired and with age average
40/3±1/4, were selected and randomly divided into two experimental and control
groups. Subjects in the experimental group participated in a period of 12 week’s
aerobic exercise training program, which done 3 times a week at 50-65 percent
of Vo2max. Control group did not participate in any exercise program during
study period. General health of the subjects and its subscales was measured by
the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ). Serotonin levels, VO2max, percent
body fat and BMI before and after training for both groups were measured
respectively. Data were analyzed using t-tests at 5% alpha error level was
performed using SPSS version 16. Results: Data analysis showed significant
difference between the two groups in general health. The difference in
psychosomatic subscales, anxiety and insomnia, social dysfunction and
depression were observed between two groups. Also, the results of this study
showed that after 12 weeks aerobic exercise, percent body fat, BMI and lipid
profile decreased significantly in training group. VO2max and serotonin also
increased significantly compared with the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion:
Aerobic exercise for inactive veterans maybe effective in reducing serotonin
levels and increasing general health and placed in line health promotion
programs.
Abstract
The aim of this study was designing a specific upper body anaerobic power test for wrestlers and determining validity, reliability and objectivity of the designed test. In order to assess the anaerobic power of wrestlers on the basis of upper body Wingate test, Twenty two wrestlers (age=23/40±3/20 year, height=173/13±6/97 cm, weight=74/55±3/88 kg) of Tehran wrestling team (most of them were Asian champion) were participated in this study. Mean, maximum and minimum of anaerobic power and fatigue indices assessed by both tests. In order to analysis the correlation between power indices and physiological indices (blood lactate and heart rate), Pearson correlation has been used, and the differences between blood lactate after 2 min in both tests assessed. The result indicated that there was significant correlation between maximum (p=0/001 r=0/739), mean (p=0/001 r=0/670) and minimum (p=0/01 r=0/650) of power and fatigue indices (p=0/003 r=0/610) obtained by designed test and Wingate test. The result showed that there was significant correlation between heart rate immediately after doing both tests (p=0/001, r=0/705) and also the result show that there was not significant correlation between blood lactate after 2 min. of doing both tests (p=0/07 r=0/353). Statistical analyses also showed no difference between the blood lactate after 2 min of doing both tests. Analyzing the validity of designed test, revealed that there was significant correlation between max (p=0/000 r=0/840), mean (p=0/000 r=0/861) and minimum (p=0/000 r=0/830) power and fatigue indices (p=0/000 r=772) after performing twice of designed test. In analysis objectively of the designed test, the result revealed that there was significant correlation between max (p=0/000 r=0/832), mean (p=0/000 r=0/858) and minimum (p=0/000 r=0/805) power and fatigue indices (p=0/000 r=0/832) which was done by two different tester. It can be concluded that in respect to Wingate upper body test, the designed test in this study is valid and reliable test to measure the anaerobic power of wrestlers.
Introduction: This research aimed to analyze the effect of 12 weeks aerobic exercise training on some
characteristics of immune system and general health of women with breast cancer. Methods: 40 female
with breast cancer, undertaking chemotherapy, were classified in exercise group with mean age of 36/9±13/2
years, weight of 67/2±9/95 kilograms and body mass index of 21/9±2/9 kg/m2 and control group with mean
age of 38/6±10/1 years, weight of 65/1±8/28 kilograms and body mass index of 21/4±2/1kg/m2. Exercise
group Perfored in 12 contionous weeks walking with moderate intensity (based on Modified-Borg scale and
40-60% Maximum Heart rate)/3 times a week/30-45 minutes in each session. General Health Questionnaire
(GHQ) was used for evaluating general health level. Before and after 4, 8 and 12 weeks CBC DIFF test was
conducted for aim of assessing some characteristics of immune system. CANCOVA was used to determine
the pure effect of exercise intervention. The data were analyzed with significant level of p≤0/05 and by SPSS
16. Results: General health and hope of life was decreased significantly after intervention in control group
(p≤0.05). Number of leukocytes of exercise group was higher after the exercise intervention, but this
difference was not significant, but number of leukocytes of control group was decreased significantly
(p≥0.05). Conclusion: Regular aerobic exercise with moderate intensity is an effective way in maintenance
the number of leukocytes, improving immune system and enhancing levels of general health.
Aims: This study investigated the effects of creatine and L-carnitine supplementation on anaerobic
performance and body weight changes in athletes. Methods: In this single-blind randomized clinical trial, 45
athletes were selected and randomly divided into four groups supplemented with: a) Creatine, b) L-carnitine,
c) Creatine- L- carnitine and D) placebo. The supplementation period was 28 days. Wingate anaerobic test
was done for assessing athletes' anaerobic performance and their weights were measured before and after
the supplementation period. To compare the variables before and after each test, paired t-test and anova
are used compare within and between variables respecdivey. Results: The anaerobic performance indices
in the groups receiving creatine and creatine- L-carnitine were significantly increased after intervention. Body
weights were also significantly increased in the supplemented groups. Conclusions: Based on the dosage
and duration of supplementation in this study, concurrent creatine and L-carnitine supplementation has
positive effects on anaerobic performance. Despite L-carnitine is a weight loss agent, the findings of this
study showed weight gain in the supplemented groups.
Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of an eight- week aerobic exercise on some immune system factors in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Twenty – three women (age: 51.96 ± 7.73, weight: 72.37 ± 10 kg) were enrolled in the study voluntarily Methods: In this quasi – experimental random study, subjects were assigned to training and control group. The training group ( n=12)participated in aerobic exercises with the intensity of 65% reserve heart rate on stationary cycle ergometer three days a week. Both groups received the same medication during the study. Differences between groups were analyzed by independent t – test and differences inside groups were analyzed by dependent t-test. Patients' blood samples were taken before and after training period and the frequency of White blood cells, A
immunoglobulin and lymphocyte were also taken by standard methods. Results: After 8 weeks aerobic exercise, there was a significant decrease in white blood cells, BMI and also a significant increase (P<0/05).in A immunoglobulin and lymphocyte in training group. No significant differences were seen in variables between groups )P>0/05).Conclusion: It seems submaximal aerobic exercise can activate some immune system neutralization processes against damage and phagocyte factors.
One of the most important success factors in most athletic competitions, receiving aerobic power (speed,
agility and jumping) high. Basketball is a great combination of short and long term activities that depend on
aerobic fitness. Anaerobic fitness of many players during the match determines tactical the performance.
The purpose of the present study to investigate the effects of strength exercises on anaerobic power and
some the variables related Traband it. The subjects consisted of 30 basketball players Young, randomly into
two equal groups of 15 subjects (experimental and control) were randomly assigned to 6 weeks and 3
sessions the Exercises were done in a week. To analyze the data, independent samples T-test and paired
sample T-test used at a significance level p ≤ 0/05. Later for six weeks of exercises, significant differences
between the records obtained from the anaerobic power the variables (speed, agility, vertical jump) were
observed between the two groups. The present study showed that the strength exercises with the variables
Traband improve anaerobic power in young basketball players and And according to the results of seem to
exercises Traband useful method for improving performance of the anaerobic the athletes.
Homocysteine and insulin resistance in postmenoupausal women rises due to decrease in estrogen, low mobility and weight gain which increase the cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of aerobic exercise training status on response of homocysteine and insulin resistance to aerobic exercise in active and nonactive obese postmenopausal women. Therefore, 21 obese postmenopausal women with the age of 48 - 65 yrs voluntary participated in the study and assigned in active (n=11) and nonactive (n=10) groups. Aerobic exercise was performed with 70-75 percent of maximum heart rate. Blood sample was obtained before and after exercise, and 10 hours following fasting. Results showed that baseline levels of homocysteine (p= 0.003) and insulin resistance (p=0.003) were significantly lower in active subjects compared with inactive ones. However, homocysteine level was significantly (p=0.028) lower in active than to nonactive subjects following aerobic exercise. It can be concluded that regular aerobic training improves insulin resistance and homocysteine levels in obese postmenopausal women, however, a session of moderate aerobic exercise could not influence on insulin resistance. Although, homocysteine response was higher in active group. It seems that changes manner of two variable to aerobic exercise is different
Aerobic power (VO2max) is an important indicator of the health and physical fitness. Executive problems in direct VO2max measurement has led to developing sub-maximal aerobic power prediction equations. The purpose of present study was to develop native aerobic power prediction equation based on 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) and body composition indices in children. In 192 healthy children (8 to 12 years) VO2max was objectively measured by Bruce treadmill protocol with gas analysis. The 6MWT was performed according to ATS guidelines. Also, anthropometric measurements were measured according to standard methods. Multiple regression analysis was used to design aerobic power (ml/kg/min) prediction equation. Accuracy of native VO2max prediction equation was assessed by Pearson correlation and Bland-Altman approach between measured and predicted VO2max. Significant correlation was observed between direct VO2max and independent variables (r=0.25-0.734). Aerobic power of the boys could be predicted by weight and 6MWT according to the following equation: VO2max(ml/kg/min)= 5.359 + (0.067 × 6MWD m) – (0.286 × Weight kg) (r2=0.743, SEE=2.74 ml/kg/min, p≤0.001). Strong correlation was observed between measured and predicted VO2max (r=0.861, P≤0.001). In addition, Bland and Altman plots demonstrated a high degree of consistency between measured and predicted VO2max. Exercise and fitness coaches by utilization of native aerobic prediction equation based on the 6MWT and weight could be able to assess the aerobic power of the boys and to evaluation of the effects of exercise training on cardio-respiratory fitness.
