Abstract

Core stability (CS) is a popular term that has evolved into a fundamental concept the much rehabilitation, performance training and preventative programs. The purpose of this study is considering the relationship between CS power and endurance with performance of adolescence athletes. 12 male swimmers participated in the study. McGill Protocol, the core stability power, MBESTT and 30/60 sit-up test were used to measure the CS endurance and power, respectively. Participants' performance was measured as the specific (stroke-index, 100m crawl stroke) and general performance (standing-broad-jump (SBJ), vertical Jump, 9.1 m sprint, shuttle-run, flexibility and seated medicine-ball toss tests). The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to determine the relationship between the CS power and endurance with general and specific athletes' performance. The results showed only significance relationship between trunk flexion with SBJ and seated medicine-ball toss, and flexibility and total CS power score with flexibility. Also, negative significance relationship found between left lateral flexion with shuttle-run test and trunk flexion with stroke-index. The findings of this study showed a weak correlation between CS with specific and general athletes' performance. Based on our findings, there is no necessity for focusing on swimming training programs.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the role of strength, expulsive power and range of motion of lower limb muscle on the fencing performance of elite florists. In this study, eight elite fencers’ participated. Kinetic variables measured using force plate and kinematic variable measured using motion analysis system. The squat jump test used to measure the compulsive power of the lower extremity muscles of the fencers. The Drop-jump test used to measure the lower strength of the muscles of the lower extremity muscles. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) used to describe the data and Pearson correlation coefficient used for determine the relationship between data (P≤0.05). The results of this study showed there is a significant relationship between squat jump power and mechanical energy and drop jump height with lunge speed and also between ankle range of motion with peak force and impulse in the anterior direction (P<0.05). Given the results of this study, coaches should have a special attention on the strength and explosive power of plantar flexor muscles.

Abstract

Nowadays, light and minimal shoes have been used by athletes in various types of sports activities in order to be in a position close to barefoot position. But its effect on the electrical activity of the shank muscles is not well understood. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the electrical activity of selected shank muscles when using minimalist shoes, normal shoes and barefoot during single-leg landing. For this purpose, 15 healthy boys with a mean age of 23.53± 2.64 years who had no history of any abnormalities participated in this study. Electromyographic variables of tibialis anterior, peroneus longus, peroneus brevis, gastrocnemius medialis, gastrocnemius lateralis and soleus muscles of subjects' superior legs were examined in two phases; pre-activity and eccentric. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with repeated measures tests were used for data analysis. The significance level was set at α=0.05. The results showed that in both phases, the activity of selected muscles in the shank of individuals during the one-legged landing movement in the barefoot position was more than the minimalist shoes and when using the minimalist shoes was more than normal shoes (P<0.05); Since minimalist shoes have been shown to have moderate muscle activation patterns, between barefoot and casual shoes, it is recommended to use it to prevent sports injuries and also to strengthen the shank and leg muscles in environments where it is not possible to move barefoot.

Abstract

Aim: Neuropathy control and management is an objective in therapeutic exercises prescribed for patients with Type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy. We examined the effects of 12-week integrated exercises (IE) on glycemic control and peripheral sensation criteria in patients with diabetic neuropathy. Methods: Based on scores of MNSI, we assigned 40 patients into two equal paired random groups (control vs. IE). Pre and post-tests were administered before and after three months of intervention for 3 sessions per week with a time of 60 minutes in the first week and gradually increased with the duration and volume of training to 90 minutes in the final session.
 Results: Repeated measures ANOVA showed no significant interaction between FBS of the groups (P = .26), but significant interactions were observed between the levels of 2 hrs pp G , 4 pm G, HbA1c, Diapason, Monofilament, and Thermofeel in favor of the IE group (P <.05). Conclusion: At the beginning of the IE, we used massage and foam roller to release pain, and improve blood circulation as well as sensation in the neuropathic areas. This may have helped the patients perform the aerobic and resistance exercises more easily Therefore, better glycemic control and peripheral sensation was achieved. Verification of the long-term effects of this training strategy requires further study.

Abstract

Wrestling is a high contact sport with a significant risk of injuries. Identifying risk factors can help preventing wrestler’s injuries. little is known about the contribution of balance and proprioception to sport injuries. The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between dynamic balance and knee proprioception and the injuries in young wrestler.72 young wrestlers from Tehran primer league participated in this study. Before the start of season, proprioception was measured at 30°, 60° and 90° knee flexion using the Biodex Isokinetic pro 4 system. Dynamic balance was measured by Biodex balance system. Injuries were recorded by the team's medical staff. Logistic regression modeling indicated that there is no significant relation between Dynamic balance and proprioception of knee at 30 and 60 and at 90 degree and musculoskeletal injuries. Balance and proprioception testing, as performed in the present study, cannot be recommended as a screening test to predict injuries in young male wrestler.

Abstract

Background and Objective: The movement patterns play a key role in the incidence of non-contact ACL injuries. This study attempts to investigate the effect of the +11 program on the jump-landing pattern in female amateur soccer players. Methods: 30 female amateur soccer players were randomly divided into experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group performed the +11 program 3 times per week for 16 weeks whereas the control group maintained their regular warm-up method during the study. The jump-landing pattern of the players was investigated by a Special football jump-landing task using the landing error scoring system. Results: The results of the study showed that the 16 weeks of implementation of the +11 program significantly improved the jump-landing error scores of the players in the experimental group. Also, comparison of the results between experimental and control groups showed that there is a significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the +11 program could improve the jump-landing pattern of the female soccer players in pre_ participation evaluation (PPE). Therefore, trainers are advised to use this program as an alternative to regular warm-ups in order to prevent injury.

Abstract

Apoptosis is a programmed cell death and it’s associated with type 2 diabetes. The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of endurance training on caspase-3, Bcl-2 and Bax gene expression of cardiac tissue in type 2 diabetic male wistar rats.In an experimental trial, 36 male wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups, Diabetic Endurance Training (n=12), Diabetic Control (n=12) and Healthy Control (n=12). Type 2 diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of STZ. The endurance training included 10 weeks, 5 sessions per week running at speed of 27 m/min for 20-30min in 1st week and reached to 27 m/min for 60 min/day in 10th weeks. The animals were sacrificed 24 h after last training session and the samples were taken from cardiac tissue. The gene expression of caspase-3, Bcl-2 and Bax were examined by Real time-PCR. The one-way ANOVA was used to analysis the data. The significant level was set at p<0.05. The gene expression of caspase-3and Bax of diabetic control group showed significant increase comparing with healthy control group (p =0.001) while gene expression of Bcl-2 significantly decreased (p =0.001). The endurance training induced significant reduction in the gene expression of caspase-3and Bax (p =0.001) and significant increase in the Bcl-2 compared to diabetic control group (p =0.001). It appears that gene expression of caspase-3, Bcl-2 and Bax of diabetic cardiac tissue are affected by positive effect of endurance training and the endurance training induces improvement in apoptosis of diabetic cardiac tissue.

Abstract

Recent studies indicate that environment can modify skeletal muscle gene expression and transcriptional factors in offspring genes. Therefore, exercising can lead to changes in the gene expression of the future generations. One of the important metabolic factors is PDK4, which is known as the main factor in Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex (PDC). This study examined the effects of maternal exercise on PDK4 expression in slow and fast twitch (soleus and EDL) muscles of male offspring. Twenty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided to three training groups: before pregnancy (TBP), during pregnancy (TDP) and before and during pregnancy (TBDP) and pregnancy without training (control) group. Training groups were running on a treadmill for four, three and seven weeks, respectively. Two months after the birth of the offspring, 6 male rats were chosen randomly from the offspring of each group. The samples were anesthetized using Ketamine (90 mg/kg) and Xylazine (10 mg/kg) and their soleus and EDL muscles were removed immediately for examine. Gene expression of offspring muscles were analyzed using real-time RT-PCR. Fisher test were used to analyze the difference between the training and the control group. PDK4 expression of offspring were significantly increased in all groups except for EDL muscle of the TBP group. According to the results, it seems likely maternal exercise training can affect the metabolic regulation in the offspring by increasing the expression of some metabolic genes.

Abstract

Introduction and aim: Physical activity and especially the motor proficiency of children have been studied from different aspects. The purpose of the present study was to determine the correlation among Functional Movement Screening scores with motor proficiency and physical activity levels of children aged 10 to 13 (Mean=11.72, SD=0.932) in Tehran province. Methods: In this descriptive study of correlation, all the children of primary schools in Tehran province were considered as the study population, from which 94 girls were selected by cluster random method. Their motor proficiency, physical activity levels, and functional movement were evaluated with Bruininks Oseretsky test-Short Form (BOT-2), International Physical Activity Questionnaire- Short Form (IPAQ-SF), and Functional Movement Screening test (FMS) respectively. Findings: The results of the Pearson correlation coefficient test showed that there is a significant relationship between the scores of the children's functional movement screening test and their BOT-2 total score (P=0.000), but the correlation between the total score of the functional movement screening test and the total score of the physical activity levels was not significant (P=0.267). Conclusion: In general, due to the existence of a significant relationship between functional movement and motor proficiency, the next step is to use early interventions and study their effect on improving children's performance and motor proficiency.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to the effect of aquatic activity and alogenic bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells fortified with Platelet-Rich Plasma in treatment of Achilles tendon in rat.  74 Sprague-Dawley rats were selected and tendon injury was formed in 69 of them. Subsequently, these rats were randomly divided into 8 groups and 5 rats which were without any injuries were chosen as the control group.  72 hours after the surgery, isolated cells from bone marrow and PRP were injected to the groups via catheters. The experimental groups had aquatic activity for 8 weeks. At the end of the eighth week, the Achilles tendon was separated and H&E and Mason Trichrome were used for special staining to assess the tendon healing. The results show there is a significant difference between the studied groups on the Achilles tendon healing. Also, results from histopathological examination indicated that there is a significant difference between the studied groups on the number of fibroblasts, collagen deposition, cellularity and tendon diameter. It could be generally concluded that, using these treatment methods could help with the tendon healing through bounding with target cells membrane receptors such as fibroblasts, mesenchymal stem cells and endothelial, which leads to activation of a series of intracellular proteins and as a result of their activities some reactions happen that lead into formation of matrix and collagen synthesis.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Given the widespread trade in some sports, a misjudging decision can not only have huge financial consequences for competitors, but also affect the event itself. The overall purpose of this study was to determine the role of information technology and perceived organizational support on the performance of the referees of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia: to investigate the mediating role of job satisfaction and self-efficacy. Methods: This is a descriptive research, correlation model, based on structural equation modeling, and its type. The statistical population of the study consisted of all referees and assistant referees present at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, of which 111 referees were 35 middle referees, 63 assistant referees and 13 video assistant referees. Results: The results showed that information technology, perceived organizational support and self-interest have a significant positive effect on the performance of the referees of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Job satisfaction does not have a significant effect on the performance of the referees of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Conclusion: Information technology is an effective and facilitating factor in arbitrators' decisions, so it is suggested to provide technological infrastructure in order to improve the instant decisions of arbitrators on a larger scale.

Abstract

Functional Movement Screen Test is one of the tests used to identify asymmetries and limitations in basic and fundamental movements. For time management and fast execution of this test, some researchers have suggested reducing the number of tests. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the internal consistency and correlation between components of this test. The present study was a correlational study. In this study, movement screen test was performed on 165 male and female students aged 18 to 25 years of Shahid Beheshti University using a special FMS kit. Results: The internal consistency of the test, measured by Cronbach's alpha method, was acceptable (α=0.71). The results of multivariate regression test showed that there was a low to medium correlation between the internal components of the test, but a high correlation was observed between the test components and the final FMS score. The results also showed a high correlation between the "four small movements" (Active leg raising, shoulder mobility, stability push up and rotary stability) and the total FMS score and a low correlation between the "three big movements" and the FMS score. Motor function screen test is a valid tool for evaluating motor performance. The results also show that in large communities such as students, and if there is a time limit, "four small movements" can be used instead of seven.

Abstract

Covid 19 disease is associated with a wide range of clinical symptoms and long-term complications. For most sports medicine professionals, it's a new challenge for people to resume their previous activities after recovering from Covid 19 after receiving the exercise prescription and care. The aim of this study was to review the appropriate physical activity for those recovering from Covid 19 infection based on the type of involvement they developed during the illness. For this study, a review study method was selected. This is done in three steps. In the first stage, physical activity in Quid, in the second stage, organ involvement in Quid, and in the third stage, sports prescriptions in organ involvement by searching for appropriate keywords in reputable scientific databases such as Pubmed, ACSM, SID. ir and Science Direct were searched, content related to the purpose of the articles were extracted and collected and analyzed for content. Examination of organs after recovery from Covid 19 infection is essential to return to physical activity. Physical activity prescriptions in those recovering from Corona varies from disease to patient, and organ to organ. Exercising in Covid conditions requires consideration. The cardiovascular, respiratory, blood, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal systems are affected by Covid 19 infection. Exercise, on the other hand, has different effects on the immune system depending on its severity, and the immune system undergoes changes in Covid 19 disease. The type, intensity, and duration of exercise or physical activity vary according to the patient and the symptoms or side effects left by Quid, and the readiness of the various organs for physical activity should be assessed.

Abstract

The purpose of present study was to examine the effects of short time static and dynamic stretching of muscles on kinematics variability of lower extremity in healthy active males during cycling. 15 physical education and sport sciences male students from Kharazmi University voluntarily participated in this study. Subjects referred to the laboratory during two days, with 48 hours intervals between each sessions, and lower extremity kinematics data were collected from 30 pedaling cycle on the stationary cycle in 70 RPM in situation of without stretching, after 2, 5, and 10 minutes post stretching by means of motion analysis camera in 50 Hz frequency. Hip, knee and ankle joints angular displacement and velocity were extracted for constructing time series and variability calculation. Results of repeated measure ANOVA did not show any significant differences in angular displacement and velocity variability in hip, knee and ankle joints after 2, 5, and 10 minutes post stretching (P>0.05). Regarding results, probably it can be use static and dynamic stretching in warm up programs before cycling or rehabilitation on stationary cycle.

Abstract

 Postural disorders disrupt muscle activity and lead to joint dysfunction. Maintaining the function of the shoulder joint requires precise coordination and on-time action of muscles, and its dysfunction lead to change in the level of muscle activity, movement disorder. This study aimed to measure the effects of corrective exercise program with kinesiotaping and physio-ball and durability of these effects after 4 weeks on EMG of serratus anterior, middle trapezius and rhomboids major muscles among male young with upper crossed syndrome. Forty-five male young with upper crossed syndrome (control group: age:17.00±0.75, height 163.93±2.01, weight 65.20±6.51، BMI 25.10±2.76, corrective exercise with physio-ball: age 16.93±0.88, height 161.66±6.85 ,weight 63.40±10.09، BMI 26.84±3/04, corrective exercise with kinesiotaping: age 17.00± 0.92, height 161.53±7.25, weight 62.86±6/81, BMI 27.88±3/84) objectively selected and participated in this study. The training program designed based on the previous studies and conducted during 8 weeks, three sessions per week (each session 40 to 60 minutes) under the supervision of the examiner. EMG device was used to measure of the MVIC electrical activity of trapezius, rhomboids and serratus anterior muscle during external and internal rotation and extension of shoulder. After 4 weeks of the training, the post-tests were repeated.The one way ANCOVA was showed that the amount of electrical activity of the selected shoulder girdle muscles after eight weeks of testing in both experimental groups in the post-test and after one month inactivity test were significantly improved than the pre-test Group corrective exercise with physioball (serratus anterior p= 0.001,17.14%, middle trapezius p=0.001,15.79%  and rhomboids major p=0.001,14.81%), corrective exercise with kinesiotaping (serratus anterior p=0.001,17.14%, middle trapezius p=0.001,21.62% and rhomboids major p=0.001,20%) and durability in group of corrective exercise with physioball (serratus anterior p=0.001, 8.6%،, middle trapezius p=0.001, 7.9% and rhomboids major p=0.001, 7.4%) durability in group corrective exercise with kinesiotaping (serratus anterior p=0.001, 8.6%, middle trapezius p=0.001،16.2 % and rhomboids major p=0.001, 8%).  Considering the results of the present research, it can be stated that corrective exercise programs with kinesio taping and physioball have an effect on the electrical activity and durability of selected shoulder girdle muscles and And these effects are lasting even after 4 weeks. It is suggested to use this program of corrective exercises for male students with upper crossed syndrome to improve their shoulder girdle muscles strength.

Abstract

Genovarum and Genovalgum are the most common postural deformities of the knee joint. A quadriceps angle is used to measure these anomalies. Methods of measuring this angle are divided into two categories: invasive and non-invasive. The purpose of the present research was to study the inter/intra rater reliability of the non-invasive Body Landmarks Analyzer method for measuring of the quadriceps angle. Seventeen males (Age: 23.40 ± 1.7 years, height: 176.32 ± 6.41 cm, weight: 72.25 ± 14.6 kg, and BMI: 22.33 ± 1.38, kg/m2). participated in this study. Body landmarks analyzer system consists of a pen (sender) and camera (receiver), both of which are equipped with IR sensors. Anatomical Landmarks of the ASIS, medial and lateral epicondyle, tibial tuberosity, and medial and lateral malleolus were used to diagnose and calculate the quadriceps angle position. Intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) two-way mixed model on absolute agreement was used to identify the inter/intra raters’ reliability. The results showed that the intra-rater reliability for the first technician was 0.83; The second technician is 0.81 and the third technician is 0.8. In addition, the inter-rater reliability was also 0.85. Therefore, it can be stated that the Body Landmark Analyzer method has good reliability for use in the extraction of knee joint abnormalities. Therefore, it can be suggested that this system be used along with other non-invasive methods.

Abstract

vitamin D deficiency is associated with many cardiovascular disorders. Arterial stiffness responses also depend on nutritional and exercise. Therefore, the study aimed to investigate the relationship between arterial stiffness response after glucose uptake and exercise with baseline levels of vitamin D in inactive men and women.
The present study was an analysis correlation study, and the subjects were 88 inactive men and women with an age range of 20 to 45 years. Vitamin D, body composition, and arterial stiffness, were measured. Subjects then ran for 30 minutes at 65% of maximum heart rate. Also, 75g of glucose was given to the subjects after 30 minutes of activity, 60 minutes after the of glucose consumption and arterial stiffness was measured. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test and analysis of variance with repeated measures at a significant level (P≤0.05).there was a negative and significant relationship between baseline levels of vitamin D and changes in CAVI in women (p=0.001 and r=-0.559) and in men a positive and significant relationship (p=0.005 and r=0.413).It seems that basal levels of vitamin D can be effective in the vascular response; due to little research, more research is need.

Abstract

It is estimated that by 2035, more than 130 million adults will suffer from various types of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is very important to know the pathogens of cardiac diseases and investigate new treatments. Also, despite continuous progress in diagnosis, patient education, and risk factor management, myocardial infarction (MI) remains one of the most common causes of morbidity, hospitalization, and mortality worldwide. The events associated with MI are highly complex and characterized by rapid metabolic and biochemical changes. Exercise training is an effective cardioprotective strategy that reduces adverse effects of MI and ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). Multiple signaling pathways of exercise preconditioning in mitigating MI-induced cardiac damage is one of the topics that has attracted much attention. In this article, some of the contributing factors in exercise-induced cardiac protection, including mitochondrial changes, metabolic changes, vascular adaptations, antioxidant capacity, heat shock proteins, cyclooxygenase levels, ATP-sensitive potassium channels, adenosine, protein kinase C, calcium and klotho homeostasis are discussed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare two methods of aerobic exercise on the levels of SOD and TNF-α in the heart tissue of diabetic rats. 40 male Wistar rats aged ten weeks were randomly divided into four groups of 10: healthy control, diabetes, diabetes+MIT and diabetes+HIT. The moderate intensity training group ran 5 sessions per week for 8 weeks on the treadmill for 60 minutes at a speed of 25 meters per minute, and the high intensity training group also 5 sessions per week for 8 weeks with a training time of 60 minutes and at a speed of 34 meters per minute. The heart tissue of rats was examined to determine the amount of changes in SOD and TNF-α using ELISA method. To investigate the difference between groups of variables, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc statistical tests were used at the significance level of P≥0.05. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the levels of TNF-α and SOD in the heart tissue of rats among the four research groups (P≤0.001). The levels of TNF-α in the HIT training group also showed a significant decrease compared to the diabetic group (P=0.001), While these changes in the MIT exercise group compared to the diabetes group was a non-significant decrease (P=0.117), the amount of SOD levels between the MIT and HIT exercise groups also showed a significant increase compared to the diabetic group (P=0.001). It seems, aerobic exercise with different intensities can improve SOD and TNF-α levels. Although the intensity of exercise in periodic exercise has been an effective factor in changing the values of both variables.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to Compare Effectiveness motor proficiency of the nutritional status on men in different age groups ((children, adolescents and young adults)), respectively. Statistical Society study was for children all student ages 10-7 years, for adolescents all student ages 15-12 years and for Youth of all students 20-18 of Tehran University except the student physical education. The sample was 90 people in each of the age groups, the four elementary schools and four high schools in Tehran and Tehran University male students were chosen by cluster sampling. This study was a descriptive survey and comparison measurement was test of instruments anthropometric and Brvnynks- Oseretsky. The results showed that among malnutrition, moderate nutrition and proper nutrition in adolescence and adulthood motor proficiency was not statistically different ages but among children ages motor proficiency were significantly different. In addition, no significant difference between motor proficiency age groups. It seems due to the impact of nutritional status on motor proficiency, and this issue was observed in this study at an early age; therefore, children are the most vulnerable in this context and considering the nutritional status of children is very important.
