Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the development of moral judgment and self-control growth of student achievement of fifth grade elementary schools in Sabzevar city, The sample size, 250 students (124 boys and 126 girls) were selected by multistage cluster sampling method was rudimentary. In this study, to collect data from two questionnaires: 1) moral judgment (MJT), 2) the willingness of children to self-control as well as students' first semester GPA was used. Independent t-test showed that among male and female students no significant difference in self-control, but in terms of moral judgment is a significant difference between male and female students.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the moderating role of parent-child interaction in relationship of parenting practices with behavioral problems of elementary students. The method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population was all students of secondary elementary and their parents in Bojnourd. Three hundred and seventy two students of secondary elementary were selected by cluster sampling. The Alabama Parenting Questionnaire (Frick, 1991), Parent-Child Interaction (Lange et al, 2002) and rating behavior problems Scale (Connors, 1990) were completed by participants. Data were analyzed by correlation and Hayes regression analysis. The results showed that the dimensions of corporal punishment and lack of parental supervision were positively correlated and the dimensions of parenting and participation were negatively correlated with behavioral problems. Parent-child interaction was also negatively associated with behavioral problems. The results of Hayes regression analysis showed that parent-child interaction, child-mother interaction and child-father interaction moderate the relationships of parenting dimensions of poor supervision, corporal punishment, parent-child participation and positive parenting with behavioral problems. The results show that when parent-child interaction is strong, ineffective methods of poor supervision and corporal punishment do not increase behavioral problems. Also, despite positive parenting, behavioral problems will not be reduced if there is no strong interaction with the children. Therefore, the impact of parenting on behavioral problems is influenced by the parent-child interaction.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Studyholism Inventory (SI-10) among university students. The research employed a descriptive and psychometric design. The statistical population included students at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili in 2024. A total of 380 students were selected using the cluster sampling method and completed the Studyholism Inventory (SI-10; Loscalzo et al., 2018), the Big Three Perfectionism Scale – Short Form (BTPS-SF; Feher et al., 2019), and the modified Maslach Burnout Inventory (Schaufeli et al., 2002). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses supported a two-factor structure for the SI-10, identifying the dimensions of studyholism and study engagement, with acceptable model fit indices (RMSEA = 0.08, GFI = 0.93, CFI = 0.94). Reliability analysis showed Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.75 for the total inventory, 0.80 for studyholism, and 0.73 for study engagement. The results revealed that studyholism was positively correlated with perfectionism and academic burnout, while study engagement showed a positive correlation with perfectionism and a negative correlation with academic burnout, supporting the convergent and divergent validity of the inventory. Furthermore, students categorized as isolated or exhibiting studyholism without study engagement had higher levels of academic burnout, while those with studyholism combined with study engagement scored higher in perfectionism, indicating diagnostic validity. Overall, the Persian version of the Studyholism Inventory (SI-10) demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties and is suitable for use among Iranian university students
