در سالهای اخیر"شاخص‌شرایط مالی"(FCI) دربسیاری از کشورها به عنوان یک شاخص مهم جهت مشخص‌کردن وضعیت سیاست پولی مورد استفاده قرارگرفته است. با توجه به اهمیت موضوع، هدف از این تحقیق استخراج شاخص جامعی است، که در بردارنده کلیه مکانیسم های مهم انتقال پولی باشد.
به این منظور، و برای استخراج FCI ، ابتدا با تخمین توابع عرضه کل و تقاضای کل گذشته نگر، وزنهای متغیرها ، بدست آمد.  سپس، میانگین وزنی این متغیرهای موثر در انتقال پولی شامل نرخ ارز، نرخ سود بانکی، حجم اعتبارات، شاخص قیمت سهام و شاخص قیمت مسکن محاسبه شد. در مرحله بعد، با توجه به اهمیت ثبات قیمت‌ها برای بانک مرکزی و به منظور آزمون اعتبار شاخص بدست آمده با استفاده از آزمون های غیرآشیانه ای و ریشه میانگین مربعات خطا، به بررسی قدرت پیش بینی شاخص فوق از نرخ تورم، پرداخته شد.داده های پژوهش بصورت فصلی و دوره مورد مطالعه سالهای1370 -1391 می‌باشد.
یافته‌های تحقیق حاکی از آن است که در طول دوره مورد مطالعه ، متغیرقیمت مسکن (متغیرقیمت دارایی ها) در شاخص موردنظر از وزن بالاتری نسبت به سایرمتغیرها برخوردار بوده است در حالیکه اثر ضریب شاخص سهام در هیچ یک از وقفه‌های خود بر روی شکاف تولید ملی با اهمیت نبوده است. یافته‌های تحقیق همچنین حاکی از آنست که شاخص مورد نظر دارای قدرت پیش بینی تورم در اقتصاد ایران می باشد.
